The Central Question in Memoir

Saturday, November 22
9:30 AM – 12:30 PM (on Zoom)

Max 25 participants

Memoir writers (or any writer!) don’t get far without curiosity. Yet in the rush to capture what happened, it’s easy to forget to ask the deeper questions. This workshop with Traci Skuce will help you uncover the inquiry that drives your story forward — and keeps your readers turning the page.

About the Instructor:
Traci Skuce lives on the traditional and unceded territories of the K’ómoks First Nation. She holds an MFA in Fiction from Pacific University and is the author of Hunger Moon, a finalist for the Rakuten Kobo Emerging Writer Prize. Traci also runs The Writing Journey, an online school for fiction and memoir writers who want to write their stories their way

From the North - A Writing Workshop

Sunday, November 23
Option 1: 9:30–11:30 AM — In person at Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre (max 20)
Option 2: 1:30–3:30 PM — On Zoom (max 20)

(Same content, same instructor — choose your format!)

How do we express the North in our writing, whether through fiction, nonfiction, poetry, or spoken word? If you were born here or have chosen to make the North your home, this workshop will help you explore the northern experience. Join Yukon author Joanna Lilley for two hours of inspiration, writing prompts, and creative exploration. No experience required — just bring your curiosity and imagination.

About the Instructor:
Joanna Lilley is the author of Endlings, winner of the Fred Kerner Book Award, and several other acclaimed poetry and fiction works. She lives in Whitehorse with gratitude on the Traditional Territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council, and was awarded the Commissioner of Yukon’s Borealis Prize for literary contribution in 2021.
